Alvan Barnhart

Alvan Barnhart, 95, of Flora, went to be with Jesus Christ Wednesday morning at his home surrounded by family. Alvan was born to the late Jesse and Lydia Wagoner Barnhart on April 9, 1920 in Sawyer, Kansas.
Alvan married Norma Kessler November 3, 1946 in Norma’s parent’s home in Rossville and they would have celebrated being married 70 years in November of this year.
He farmed in Carroll County for a number of years. Alvan was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church in Flora.
Surviving with Norma are three daughters and son-in-laws: Joyce Shively of Delphi, Gloria and Clayton Filbrun of Wisconsin and Marilyn and Jerry Fisher of Ohio. Nine grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
Alvan’s family will receive friends Friday from 3-5 and 6-8 PM at Old German Baptist Brethren Church in Flora. His funeral will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the church. Officiating will be the Home Brethren. Burial to follow at North Fork Cemetery near Prymont. Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel has been entrusted to assist family with arrangements.
