I will miss him. The last time I visited Jerry we replayed Flora in the final four basketball tourney in 1946. I also reminded him the Cubs won the World Series and he just beamed. Maxine

Oh Jerry, where do I begin??? The Hanaways and the Albaughs have been connected for many many years. I want to share this with his family. Now you know your dad was headstrong!! And when he was the Fire Chief? I believe, we had a long standing feud about his pulling the fire trucks up into our front yard, usually leaving tire tracks. I asked him to pull to the side and stay on the pavement but nooooo that wasn’t how it was done. So after several years of aggravation I went out and bought a tree and planted it in the yard where the boys USED to pull their fire trucks in. End of problem.
I loved Jerry very much. He was always first to help at church when I needed anything and I enjoyed spending time in conversation with him. He loved his family and friends and that I shall miss.

We have so many good memories of Jerry, Jean and their family. Startiing Jean’s laugh and her signature “Aw shoot” response and Jerry’s strong base voice that would make all around take notice. They were close for so many years. We went to countless Indiana State basketball finals as couples. We visited every time we were in Flora and they would come up and visit us,sometimes going to a Cubs game. I remember when Jerry lived on the end of Center Street and I lived on the end of Willow. We played basketball on the goal on their garage and baseball in their back yard. Jerry had a ballpoint pen that was a minature “Cubs” bat he got from a Wheaties boxtop,(we always had puffed wheat that came in a big plastic bag) no prizes.
They were both truly good persons and great friends. They are missed.
