Jo Ann Reed, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at her residence in Lafayette, surrounded by family. She was born in Logansport, IN to James O. and Thelma B. (Kirkpatrick) Elliott, and was the oldest of four children. After graduating from Jefferson High School in 1948, Jo Ann attended Purdue University where she became a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. In 1951, she married Ray E. Reed, with whom she enjoyed 65 years of marriage. They had two children: Robyn Rae Halsema (Mark), and Jeffrey Alan Reed. Ray preceded her in death. Initially a committed stay-at-home mom, she later became bookkeeper for the family businesses: Reed’s Yama Honda, 1970-89, and Reed’s Auto Sales, 1989-99. She and Ray enjoyed wintering in Naples, Florida, where they owned a condo for nearly 30 years. Jo Ann was an avid golfer and bowler, and had a lifelong passion for music and horses. She was also devoted to her three grandchildren, Hayley Ann and Edward Reed Halsema, and Cooper Reed, and was never happier than when in their presence. Jo Ann is survived by sisters Sandra Kay Lamberson (David, deceased) and Karen Sue Casey (Joseph), and brother James Kirkpatrick Elliott (Carmi).

A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.  Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel Flora, is assisting family with arrangements.
