Byron David Gilbert, 82, of Flora, died Friday, August 14, 2020 at Northwoods Village in Kokomo, IN. Byron was born to the late Orville and Vera Sink Gilbert on December 25, 1937 in Logansport, IN. On October 6, 1957 Byron married Carolyn Catron and she preceded him on March 28, 2008. He was a graduate of Burlington High School class of 1956. He served our country in the Indiana National Guard. He attended Oakland Christian Church. Byron enjoyed working at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the month of May for the 500 and the Brickyard 400. He enjoyed visiting Gatlinburg, TN. Byron was an active member and past secretary for the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department. He also was a proud EMT in Carroll County and St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo.
He is survived by three daughters: Melinda Gilbert (Chuck Petry) of Lafayette, Nancy (Jim) Cangny of Indianapolis and Tina (John) Sifert of Fishers. Son: David (Norma) Gilbert of Flora. Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
