2026

Carol Bordner, born June 10th, 1940 to William S. and Mary E. Bordner, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at his home after a life defined by faith, hard work, service, and devotion to those he loved.
Carol spent his high school summers in Cutler with his grandparents, Charlie and Blanch Mann, working on the family farm. Those summers helped shape the work ethic and values that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1958. Carol married Joyce Ann Overholser on September 4th, 1960 at Cutler Presbyterian Church. They were married 65 and a half years.
Carol dedicated much of his life to both construction and farming. He founded and operated his own construction business called “Bordner Construction” from 1960 to 1983 while also farming from 1961 until 2026. While operating his construction business, he shared his expertise by substitute teaching the Building and Trades program at Carroll High School. In 1982 he began working for Carroll Consolidated School Corporation, where he served as maintenance director until 2005. During his 23 years with the school corporation, he took pride in making sure students arrived safely each day and never lost a single day of school due to a mechanical failure.
Faith and service were central to Carol’s life. At Cutler Presbyterian Church he served as Elder, Trustee, and Clerk of Session. He was a member of the Cutler Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years, the Carroll County Antique Tractor Club, and served on the Carroll County REMC Board of Directors. Carol also proudly served the Democrat Township Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years and was a life member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighter’s Association, and he served on the Democrat Township Advisory Board. Carol’s service to his community was characterized by a willingness to meet needs as they arose regardless of whatever it cost himself. He met people where they were and always put the good of others before his own.
Carol enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved farming, antique tractors, working with his hands, maintaining the church, and spending time with his kids and grandkids, especially for Sunday dinners each week.
Carol is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann, sons, Todd (Carmen) Bordner, Jeffrey (Shana) Bordner, and Jay Bordner, and brother, Charlie Bordner.
He was a proud grandfather to Adam (Jenna) Bordner and their daughters Andi and Nelli, Kyle (Hannah) Bordner, Elli Bordner, Kayleigh (Jeffrey) Huth and their son, Kaden, Shania (Brody) Dearinger and their daughters Analeigh and Willa, Jeffra (Jared) Miller and their daughters Lakin and Dallas and son Remington, Ashley (Matt) StAmour and their sons Cliff and Cal, Brian Bordner and his fiancé Hunter Faulhaber.
Carol was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Bill Bordner, who passed away in 1965, and sister, Sharon Shedron who passed away in 2024.
The Bordner family invites friends to visit on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Crossroads Christian Church, 3570 E 200 S, Bringhurst, Indiana 46913. Carol’s Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Cutler Presbyterian Church with calling one hour prior. Grandson, Kyle Bordner, will officiate.
