Diana Jean Nevin, 95 of Flora, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday evening, September 15, 2026, at Milner’s Healthcare in Rossville. Diana was born to John and Cletus Wilson Clingenpeel on May 2, 1931, at the family home in Bringhurst. Diana graduated from Flora High School in 1949. On April 3, 1952, she married Richard (Dick) Nevin in Brookston. Most of Diana’s working days were spent at the Bright National Bank (now First Financial), many of which as the Flora branch manager. When asked what her favorite color was, she always answered green, not because it was her birthstone, but because it was the color of money. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Diana enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and cryptograms and reading. The Flora library was an important resource for her throughout her life. She instilled that love of reading into her children and grandchildren.Dick and Diana visited many places, first when Dick was in the Navy, and later when their children relocated to various locations, both in the U.S. and abroad.
Diana is survived by daughters, Janis (Rick) Fordyce of Illinois, Debra (David) Vehslage of Michigan, son Michael (Cindy) Nevin of Virginia, ten grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and four brothers.
A private burial in the Rossville Cemetery is being planned for a later date.
Diana’s family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful care she received at Milner’s Healthcare in Rossville. The staff made her feel loved and cared for throughout her stay there.
