Donald Lee Gangwer, 88, a lifelong resident of the Cutler area, received his call to enter Heaven, Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at his home. Don was born on January 30, 1937, in Kokomo, IN to the late Lloyd and Ersie Bowen Gangwer. On March 1, 1959, Don married the love of his life, Irma Hollingsworth, and she survives. Don retired in 1999 from Globe Valve in Delphi after working there for thirty-one years. Don’s passion was tilling his land and watching over his farm. He always raised free range hogs from the time he was a youth until he was 80 years old. He was a member of the Cutler Presbyterian Church for many years. He was a fireman with the Cutler Volunteer Fire Department for several years. Don was proud being a “Cutler Wildcat” Cutler High School graduate, with a class of seven students. He served our Country in the US Army and the National Guard. Don was the youngest of four, loved to fish, pull pranks, watching wrestling, cowboy movies, Purdue basketball and playing checkers. Don is survived by his wife of 66 years: Irma Gangwer. Two daughters: Diane (Ron) Wertz of Camden and Carla Gangwer of Cutler. Son: Ross (Valarie) Gangwer of Lebanon. Five grandchildren: Karen (Randy) Swygman, Erin Lloyd (Jenna) Wertz, Jackson Robert Gangwer, Loran (Jack) Williams and Norah Louise Gangwer. Four great-grandchildren: Brodie and Addie Swygman, Drew and Gwen Werts. Several nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents, siblings-Thomas Gangwer, Phyllis Gangwer Mummert, Robert “Bob” Gangwer and Ann Gangwer Ward.

The Gangwer Family invite friends to visit Monday, July 7, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 S Center Street, Flora, IN 46929. A Celebration of Donald Lee Gangwer’s Life will begin at 11:00am Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Ball Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Cutler Presbyterian Church in Don’s memory.
