George W. Barnard, 100, of Bringhurst, IN left this world to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, April 25, 2018 surrounded by family at Wellbrooke of Kokomo.

George was born to the late Rolla and Sylvia Harris Barnard on December 31, 1917 in Carroll County, IN.

He married Leona McGill on February 8, 1952 in Carroll County and she passed away on December 1, 1973.

George was a proud farmer and was able to plant and harvest his land to the age of 97.  He enjoyed talking to friends about what he had seen in his 100 years.

He graduated 1935 from Carrollton High School.   He was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church, Carroll County Antique Tractor Club, 75 year member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge and was awarded the 2018 Carroll County Ag Association Centennial Award.  George loved his black and gold Purdue University.

George is survived by his son, Alan Barnard of Bringhurst.  Special friend Jean Rinehart of Bringhurst.  Nephew, John and Ann Kephart of Franklin.  Niece, Joanna and Jim Lease of Carmel.  He is also survived by several cousins.

The family of George invites friends to visit Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 12 noon till the time of his service at 3:30 PM at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 South Center Street, Flora, IN 46929.  Officiating will be Richard Skiles.  Burial to follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery.   Memorials may be given to the Kokomo Rescue Mission, 321 W. Mulberry Street, Kokomo, IN 46901, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

    Alan sorry for you loss loved your dad I’ve known him since mom and dad had the restaurant. He was always so kind and always smiling. Will be praying for you cause I know you two were very close.
