James R. “Jim” Allbaugh, 71, of Bringhurst, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
Jim was born on August 30, 1954, in Logansport, Indiana, to the late Robert C. and Glenda Thicke Allbaugh. He began farming the family farm in 1972 and continued until 2020, working side by side with his son Ryan. Over the years, Jim also worked at Eller Fertilizer in the 1970s, Burlington and Flora Lumberyards in the 1980s, and drove a school bus for Carroll Schools for 17 years.
On November 16, 1974, Jim married Sue Ramer in Logansport. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. Jim was an active member of his community. He attended Crossroads Community Christian Church, was a member of the Carroll County Pork Producers and FFA Alumni and was a 1972 graduate of Carroll High School. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and especially treasured the time he spent coaching his sons in youth baseball. Sue shared that Jim loved being around people, but his grandchildren always held a special place in his heart.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sue; two sons, Ryan (Melinda) Allbaugh and Jared Allbaugh; his brother, Tom (Deb) Allbaugh; five grandchildren, Emlyn (Cassius) Sherwin, Rhys (Zach) Townsend, Emma Allbaugh, Anna Allbaugh, and Cade Allbaugh; and an unborn great grandson, Kannon Townsend. He is also survived by his brother in-law and sister in-law, Dennis (Jodie) Ramer; sister in law, Cathy Ramer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother in-law, Gary Ramer.
The Allbaugh family invites friends to visit on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Crossroads Community Christian Church, 3570 E 200 S, Bringhurst, Indiana 46913. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the church, with Pastor Dan Butcher officiating. Burial will follow at Burlington Cemetery.

February 25, 2026 11:43 am ·Sue-So sorry to hear about Jim’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all the family. We will be unable to attend the visitation or service, but I want to share with you one of the fondest memories I have of Jim- We were in 5th grade at Burlington (1965!) playing for the Burlington Cubs basketball team. I forget who we were playing, but as time was running out Jim was standing at the foul line with his back to the basket. He caught a pass and bent over backwards, flipped the ball over his head, and made the shot at the buzzer! Greatest basketball shot I had ever seen!

Pat and I am sorry for the loss of Jim, although we live miles a part we remember meeting him several years back.
We know one thing for sure shore he is with the father in Heaven.

I just heard about this today. That’s one of the hard things about living in Oklahoma now, I don’t know what’s happening in Indiana. We are so saddened to hear about Jim. I know my mom and dad will greet him in Heaven. They loved you guys and so do we.
Thankfully to God, we as Christians have sthe hope of eternal salvation. You will see him again one day.
