Joyce Yoder, 79, of Bringhurst, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She was born to the late Alfred Lee and Sarah Alice Kirkpatrick West on March 7, 1942, at the family home in Burlington, Indiana. Joyce graduated from Flora High School in 1960 and from Ivy Tech School of Nursing in 1977. She served as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Brethren’s Home of Indiana, Indiana University Arnett Hospital, Flora Family Physicians with Dr. Langston, Community Health Network and was the current Carroll County Health Department nurse. Joyce marred Marvin Yoder on September 30, 1961, in Camden and he survives. Joyce enjoyed working in her flower beds, knitting, cooking and being grandma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joyce enjoyed working as County Health Nurse for the past eleven years. Many Carroll County residents counted on her for their immunizations and other healthcare needs. She will fondly be remembered as the nurse that gave “me my shot” by many patients.  She cared deeply for those that she had the honor of calling her patients. She will be missed by her family and our community. Joyce is survived by her husband Marvin Yoder. The Yoder Family invite friends to visit Monday, December 27, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 S. Center Street, Flora, IN 46929. A Celebration of Joyce’s Life will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Larry DeVos will officiate. Burial to follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Children’s Hospital in memory of her great-grandson Gavin Gerlach or the Community Foundation of Carroll County.     I fondly remember her taking care of my father when she worked at the Brethren Home. She had to be a person of great patience. Especially after Dad pulled a “naughty” trick on her one day. My condolences to the family. She was a great lady!
