Kathleen L. “Kathy” King, age 80, of Flora, entered Heaven’s gates on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Franciscan Health in Lafayette.
Kathy was born on January 6, 1945, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Russell and Lorna (Miller) Hicks. She was a 1963 graduate of Carroll High School and later attended Metro Tech College in Omaha and Bellevue College.
On October 27, 1963, Kathy married the love of her life, Kent King, in Flora. Together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage and a lifetime of adventure. Kathy and Kent traveled the world and proudly visited all 50 states—more than once.
Kathy served the town of Flora as Utility Clerk from 1999 to 2007 and was a devoted member of the Flora Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, kind spirit, and the way she made everyone feel like a friend—she truly never met a stranger.
She is survived by her husband, Kent; two sons, Kyle (Jenny) King of Jacksonville, FL, and Kip King of Omaha, NE; two grandchildren, Declan and Kyra King; two sisters, Sally Schmidt of Flora and Diana Floyd of Battle Ground; and one brother, Charles Hicks of Indianapolis.
The King family invites friends to gather in remembrance of Kathy’s life at Wheeler Family Funeral Home – Baker Chapel, 204 S. Center St., Flora, IN 46929, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Friday, November 14, 2025. Burial will be private at Maple Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kathy’s memory to the American Heart Association.
