Malissa Ann (Flora Freels) Pattengale, 45, of Flora, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, September 16, 2022, at her home after a long courageous battle with cancer. Malissa was born on April 4, 1977, in Lafayette, IN to Ronald and Kathy Allen Flora. Malissa worked as an Aviation Ground Controller at Purdue Airport, at Treece’s Restaurant in Rossville and the Marathon Gas Station in Flora. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1995 where she played softball and basketball. Malissa was involved in the start of Carroll High School softball. Malissa played summer league softball all through grade school through high school. She also played Travel AAU basketball. She loved music, traveling, enjoyed being with family and friends but her favorite was being a “Mom”. Malissa married Zachary Pattengale on September 11, 2015, in Delphi, IN. Malissa is survived by her husband: Zachary Pattengale. Son: Paul Walker Freels of Flora. Mother: Kathy Flora of Flora. Two sisters: Tabitha (Doug) Forgey of Camden and Lucinda Flora of Anderson. Mother in-law: Connie Speak of Delphi. Father in-law: Dixie Pattengale of Lafayette. Brother in-law: Nick Pattengale of Delphi. Several nieces and nephews. She was a proud great aunt to two boys. She is preceded by her father- Ronald Flora, grandparents- Paul and Ester Flora and Dorval and Ruby Allen.
Malissa’s Family invites friends to visit Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 3:00pm until the time of a Celebration of Malissa’s Life at 6:00pm at Northview Church, 687 East 50 North, Flora, IN 46929. Pastors Morgan Young and Kevin Marsh will officiate. The family ask that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be given to assist with final expenses.
