Mark D. “Mick” Cook, 91, of Cutler, was called home to the Lord Sept 12, 2023.  Mick was born to the late Joseph and Josephine Thompson Cook on August 21, 1932, in Cutler. Mick was the seventh of eight siblings and was raised on the family farm along the Wildcat Creek in Cutler. After graduating from Cutler High School in 1950, he joined the US Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Texas, Japan and O’Hare in Chicago. On January 8, 1955, Mick married Irma J Clem and they moved to St. Charles, Missouri where he worked for McDonnell Douglas and Trans World Airlines. They moved back a year later, and Mick farmed with his dad for 25 years. Mick was the rural letter carrier in Cutler for 30 years, retiring in 1994. After retirement Mick was a courier for Bright National Bank for 13 years. Mick was a member and past president of the Indiana Rural Letter Carrier Association and served as a delegate several times at the national convention. Mick was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite Cathedral. Golf was a passion for Mick and he enjoyed golfing with his buddies. Mick was an active member, elder, deacon and youth leader at the Cutler Presbyterian Church, helped raise funds for the Adams Mill Covered Bridge restoration, volunteered at the mill, Cutler Fire Department and Ball Hill Cemetery for many years. Mick loved spending time with Irma, 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 33 nieces and nephews. He always enjoyed talking to kids at family gatherings, church, on his mail route or uptown in Cutler. Mick is survived by his wife of 68 years, Irma Clem Cook. Three daughters: Terri (Dean) Sink of Flora, Tami Johanningsmeier of New Albany and Toni Cook of Cutler. Five grandchildren: Ryan Sink, Sara Underhill, Scott (Jennifer) Johanningsmeier, Susan (Ben) Smith and Lisa Johanningsmeier. Six great-grandchildren: Kyle and Kaci Underhill, Rachel and Rebecca Johanningsmeier, Hannah and Heidi Smith. Two sisters: Marjorie Squier Smith and Bonnie Wilson. He is preceded by his parents, siblings-Harold Cook, Virginia Brower Smith, William Cook, Belva Best and Robert Cook.

The Cook Family invites friends to visit Friday, September 22, 2023, at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 S. Center Street, Flora, IN 46929 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with Masonic Service at 7:30pm. A Celebration of Mark “Mick” Cook’s Life will be held at the Cutler Presbyterian Church Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 1:00pm with calling 1 hour prior. Mick’s grandson Scott Johanningsmeier and nephew Jason Burns will officiate. Burial to follow at Ball Hill Cemetery with military rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given in Mick’s name to Carroll County Manor.

    Mick was a dear friend and golf buddy to my late husband Rich Reef. He and Rich loved their time together golfing and stopping for lunch afterwards. He and Irma were dear friends to Rich for over 70 years. My prayers for comfort and peace for all the families 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

    Mick was such a kind hearted and charitable person. The only times I recall any anger from him was when he had a terrible slice on his golf swing haha. Mick meant a lot to me and I will always remember him. I send my most sincere condolences to Toni and Irma. Mick will always be loved and missed❤️
