Rachel E. Yates, 71, of Bringhurst, entered Heaven on Monday, May 4, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi.

Rachel was born on February 15, 1955, in Logansport to the late Lawrence and Florence (Strong) Spurgeon. She dedicated many years to serving Carroll Schools in the cafeteria, where she built lasting relationships with students and staff alike.

A faithful member of Northview Church, Rachel served in the nursery and cherished time spent with Bob in their small group. She also volunteered at the Flora Thrift Store, always finding ways to give back to her community.

Family was at the center of Rachel’s life. She found great joy in supporting her children’s activities and later cheering on her grandchildren at their events and milestones.

On August 18, 1973, Rachel married Bob Yates, who survives. They shared 52 years of marriage together.

She is also survived by her daughter, Emily (Jason) Miller of Logansport; two sons, Michael (Chrissy) Yates of Bringhurst and Todd (Chrissa) Yates of Camden; nine grandchildren; and her sister, Angela Hayes of Kokomo.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Mark, and her sister Rebecca.

The Yates family invites friends to visit on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Rachel’s Life beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Northview Church, 687 E 50 N, Flora, IN 46929. Pastors Dave Falkenberg, Morgan Young, and Michelle Reed will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made in Rachel’s memory to Erica’s Rescues & Humane Society in Delphi.

Rachel’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and St. Elizabeth Healthcare for their care and compassion.
