Richard L. Fite, 79, of Bringhurst, IN, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, November 3, 2022, at IU Health Arnett Lafayette. Richard was born to the late William M. and Wanetta White Fite on February 9, 1943, in Goshen, IN. Richard was reared in Tipp City, OH and was a graduate of Tipp City High School. On July 30, 2017, in Bringhurst, Richard married Christine Wagoner Denny and she survives. Prior he was married to Judy Wessell and Patricia Pavlick and they both preceded. Richard retired from Caterpillar in Lafayette working there for 18 years. At a young age Richard helped his father work in the family bakery in Tipp City, Ohio. After his father passed, he purchased the bakery and ran it for several years. Richard’s passion in life was collecting and restoring cars and trucks. He was in the process of restoring a 1967 Ford Mustang. Richards all-time favorite vehicle was his 50-year edition Ford Thunderbird convertible. He also owned Fite Mobility in Camden. Richard kept himself busy with driving for the Flora Senior Citizen Center, a member of the Camden Masonic Lodge Mt. 211, Logansport Shrine Club where he was a past president of the Third Wheel Patrol, Indianapolis Murat Temple, Carroll County Economic Development Committee, Emergency Management Committee and was a past President of the Camden Town Board. Richard took great pride in helping children in need with making more than 160 trips to Shriners Hospital in Chicago. Richard was a proud veteran of the US Navy. Richard is survived by his wife Christine Fite. Two daughters: Janet Fite and Shelia Back. Step children: Greg and Susan Denny and Rob and Stacy Denny, Mitch Gump, Mike and Janet Fite, Donnie and Minerva Wessell, Mark Wessell, Anna Wessell. Sister: Maureen Haney. Grandchildren: Austin, Payton, Braden, Jaden, Kyle, Bailey and Kayla. Brenda Thompson and Al Hughes Family’s. Also, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents, three wives, son-Richard W. Fite , brother-William E. Fite and step son-Ronnie Wessell.
Friends and family may gather Monday, November 7, 2022, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 S. Center Street, Flora, IN 46929. Private funeral Tuesday with Pastor Brad Burton officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Lafayette with Military Graveside Rites.
