Robert D. “Bob” Johnson, 87, passed away on August 1, 2026 in Lafayette, IN.
Bob was born on September 29, 1938, to Carl and Ina Johnson in Logansport, IN. He graduated from Flora High School in 1958.
On June 14, 1959, Bob married the love of his life, Sandra (Cassell) Johnson. Together they built a life centered on love, faithfulness, and family, sharing more than six decades of marriage and countless cherished memories.
A lifelong farmer, Bob devoted himself to the land until his retirement in 2005. Farming was more than his occupation—it was his passion, and his deep appreciation for the land remained with him throughout his life.
A faithful and loving servant of Christ, Bob was a devoted member of Living Faith Church of the Brethren in Flora. His faith guided the way he lived, loved, and served others throughout his life.
Bob was also a proud member of the Idlers Motorcycle Club. He and Sandra shared a love for the open road, spending many happy years taking motorcycle rides together and creating memories that will be treasured by those who knew them.
Above all, Bob will be remembered for his unwavering love of his family, his dedication to farming, and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. His kindness, quiet strength, and steady presence touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
Bob is lovingly survived by his wife, Sandra Johnson; his son, Brad (Diane) Johnson; his daughter, Sheila (Dennis) Oland; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of great pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Bob’s legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and love for the simple things in life will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Living Faith Church of the Brethren from 10:00am until 12:00pm. Celebration of Bob’s Life will begin at 12:00pm. Pastor Guy Studebaker will officiate. Burial to follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be given in Bob’s memory to Living Faith Church of the Brethren or St. Jude Children Hospital.
