2025
Roger L. Gibson, 77, of Flora, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. Roger was born on May 4, 1948, in Flora to the late Charles and Virginia Downham Gibson. On June 22, 1968, he married the love of his life, Joyce Snyder, who survives.
Roger spent many years driving a cross-country semi and traveled across most of the country. When his first grandchild was born, he decided to stay closer to home and began driving dump trucks for Eagle and Fox Hauling until his retirement. Most recently, he assisted the Forgey Family by driving a grain truck during harvest. In his younger years Roger enjoyed working on cars at the Kokomo Speedway.
Roger proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Alexandria, Louisiana. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1966. He was an avid gun collector, a member of the American Legion and the VFW, and a member of Fountain of Grace Church. He also played golf for many years in the senior league at Angel Hill and was a past champion. Roger was a man devoted to God, his country, and his family, and the American flag held deep meaning for him.
Roger is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Gibson of Flora. He is also survived by his daughter, Kristie Gibson White (Andy Lewis) of Colburn, and his son, Chad (Mindi) Gibson of Delphi and sister-in-law, Judy McBee. His four grandchildren are Trey White, Kylie White, Kayleigh (Kyle) Appleton, and Arika Gibson. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Emersyn, Kollins, Greyson, and Campbell. Roger leaves behind two sisters, Jean Lear of Crawfordsville and Kathy Williams of Kokomo, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Mike Gibson, and brother in-law-Dale McBee.
The Gibson Family invites friends to gather on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fountain of Grace Church, 103 E. Main Street, Flora, Indiana. A Celebration of Roger鈥檚 Life will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday at the church. Pastor Bruce Hankins will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery with military graveside rites.
The family asks guests to wear casual clothing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers in honor of our veterans.
