Ruthford Allen “Bud” Decker, 80, of Cutler passed away at his residence on September 2, 2023.
He was born in Petersburg, IN, on June 15, 1943, to Oval and Oma Lavina Gladis (Henson) Decker.
Allen graduated from Winslow High School in 1962 and joined the United States Army where he served courageously in Vietnam as an artillery repairman. After serving his country, Allen attended Arsenal Technical school in Indinapolis, where he received a certification for tool and die making. He opened and operated Decker’s Body Shop and Wrecker Service in Flora and obtained his insurance adjuster’s license. After the historic blizzard of 1978, Allen decided to move his family to Florida. There he spent time rehabbing homes and restoring antique furniture. Allen’s hobbies included fishing, gunsmithing, whittling, and arrowhead hunting.
Surviving family include his daughters: Kimberly (Curtiss) Kicliter of Ideal, GA; Robert Vallejos of Ft. Myers, FL; Anna Decker of Atlanta, GA; and April (Jared) Lindsey of Cutler, IN. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Curtiss Kicliter IV, Westley Kicliter, Travis Kicliter, Kaitlin Kicliter, Ellie Case, Hondo Lindsey, and one great grandchild, Jaxson Kicliter. Preceding Allen in death are his three sisters: Lucille Roberson, Norma Jean Willis, and Sheila Johnson.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Wheeler Family Funeral Home – Baker Chapel, 204 S. Center St. Flora, IN 46929. Graveside service will take place Monday September 11, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Petersburg, IN.

Was one of my Best friends. We had various ventures through insurance claims
He and I shared restoring weapons and adventures in life! Very talented! Auto body man and furniture restoration! We were both in Vietnam at the same time but Mets years later! He will be missed!
