Waneta Alice Johnson, 94, formerly of Flora, IN, entered Heaven’s Gate, Friday, July 25, 2025, in St. Charles, MO. Waneta was born on June 14, 1931, in Miami County, IN, to the late Harvey Mason Jones and Mary Ellen Frailing Jones. On October 9, 1949, Waneta married Harold C. Johnson in North Manchester, IN, and he preceded her on September 30, 2006. Waneta was a homemaker, and while living in Flora, she attended the Flora United Methodist Church (Fountain of Grace Church). Waneta is survived by her son, Jon (Carrie Ayres) Johnson of St. Peters, Missouri, grandson, Clark Johnson of Thousand Oaks, CA, granddaughter, Allie (Dustin) Beardsley of St. Peters, MO, and great-grandchildren, Layden and Hattie Beardsley. She is preceded by her parents, husband, two sons: Mark Johnson and Steven Johnson, sister Marilee Jeanette Jones Horn, brothers Donald Jones, and Curtis Jones, and half-brothers Lyman Jones, Kenneth Jones, and Vern Jones.
The Johnson Family invites friends and family to visit Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 S Center Street, Flora, IN 46902, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Waneta’s Celebration of Life will begin at 10:00 am, Friday, at the funeral home, and burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Special Olympics.
